Stop by for the re-enactment of the historic 1779 Battle of Newtown and a military court martial, then visit the camps, talk to the re-enactors, and buy goods from 18th and 21st century merchants! 

Events are all day Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm. Adult admission is $5.

Adventures of Blanche Stuart Scott – Part II August 8th, 6:30 p.m. Greece Library.  Blanche Stuart Scott: Adventures of a Memorable Woman, Part II - Thursday, August 8th at 6:30 p.m. Greece Public Library. Maureen Whalen will present the second installment of her trilogy about this Greece native who was an automotive and aviation pioneer. Part II concentrates on Blanche’s adventures on a transcontinental auto trip from New York City to San Francisco in 1910. This living history interpretation is based on recorded interviews with Blanche in the collection of the Greece historian’s office and excerpts from her unpublished autobiography.
Kathy Firkins to appear on Channel 10 news. To promote our August 11th Vintage Game Day event, Kathy will join Rebecca LaClaire on her 12 o’clock news cast between 12:15 and 12:30 p.m. on August 8th.  She will be accompanied by Linda Evans and Suzanne Peters.  They will bring with them some of the vintage games from our collection and talk about our newest Vintage Games and Toys Exhibit. 

 Vintage Game Day August 11th, 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Greece Museum – Remember the days when you didn’t need batteries, a computer, or Wi-Fi to play a game?  The Greece Historical Society and Museum, 559 Long Pond Road, invites you to a special family game day to mark the opening of its new Vintage Games and Toys exhibit.  On Sunday, August 11, from 1:30-4:00 pm, your whole family can join in playing a variety of games throughout the museum and on its lawns and sidewalk.  There will be croquet, toss-across, and skittles on the lawn, jump roping and hopscotch near the back porch, and games requiring no equipment at all such as Simon Says.  Inside you can choose to play various games such as Chutes and Ladders, Sorry, and Bingo.   Check out the tree-house styled dollhouse and the vintage games and toys on display in the new exhibit on games of yesteryear:  Parcheesi, pick-up sticks, Monopoly, and Viewmasters.  Plans for the exhibit over the next year include special craft Sundays, game tournaments, and a rotating selection of featured games.  The event is free and children will be awarded small prizes.

Tuesday, September 10, 2013 – 7:00 p.m., Greece Town Hall.  History of Elmtree (Yates Thayer) Farm by Marie Poinan. This presentation will explore the history of 710-720 Latta Road as a country estate and a working farm over the past 100 years.

Tuesday, October 8, 2013 – 7:00 p.m., Greece Town Hall.  Clara Barton Performed by Eleanor Stearns. This portrayal of Clara Barton will give glimpses of her life, her involvement during the Civil War, and her role in the founding and activities of the American Red Cross.
